Debt buyers abuse the legal system and prey on middle class Americans, 80% of judgment and garnishments are clearly meritless however creditors still win 9 out of 10 times.
I don’t know about you, but this statistic keeps me up at night. For the first time in my adult life a large number of people who I know personally are fighting poverty. Most of them wait until the situation is almost irreparable before they tell me their situation because they are embarrassed. But I will tell you what I tell them. Fortunately for you, you are an American. America is still one of the last places on earth where you can go to sleep broke and wake up wealthy. The only difference between you and Donald Trump is information. Remember Donald Trump filed bankruptcy and stiffed his creditors for over $1 billion. He didn’t shed a tear. He simply developed a plan to rebuild his shattered finances. So the same opportunity exists for you. You simply need to take one step back and develop a plan to rebuild your finances and create instant prosperity.
If you live in an industrialized nation your plan must involve credit restoration and development. Most people make the same mistake. That mistake is to focus on their bills and not their credit. Or focusing on their income and not their credit. Your credit is your tool for wealth building. Remember “your credit will make you more money than your job ever will, your money will make you even more money, and then your ideas will make you rich”. It is my job to try to create a culture of credit. My goal is to have everyone focus on achieving a 990-credit score. If you are constantly moving towards 990 then you will always have access to capital and the American dream no matter how much you owe or where you work. On a bigger scale we need to come together as a nation and embrace this new credit culture before it is too late. It is impossible to restore the nation’s economy without helping the middle class restore their credit. No matter how much money you pump into the economy it will never reach the middle class without perfect credit. If Americans can’t buy homes and cars then how can the economy rebound? The government has given big business and the banking industry a “Fresh Start” but no one has thought to give the middle class a “Fresh Start”. The middle class lost over $14 trillion in the last five years. The government gave big business and the banks a refund to cover their losses. The middle-class small businessman is the largest employer in the country. If they don’t get a fresh start, how will we ever get any meaningful gains in our employment numbers. The bottom line is credit! Credit! Credit! There is no problem that you or this economy has that credit can’t fix. With that being said then why doesn’t the government simply waive its magic wand and clean everyone’s credit. Well, “Credit Amnesty” is an idea that I am toying with, however, any solution that we propose has to be grounded in sustainability. We cannot propose a program that creates the idea or belief that it is alright not to pay your bills or not to honor your commitments. This would send the wrong signal and dig us into an even bigger economic hole. Therefore, legislating a fresh Start can be tricky.
I am more convinced that the solution lies in a grass root action that involves more financial literacy than wand waving. I believe that if we outline a process that involves current credit technology but makes that knowledge more accessible than those who are diligent will have the opportunity to get their “Fresh Start”. Create a system that only those individuals who are serious about prosperity and success can thrive in.
Once those serious-minded folks get their credit restored then you can’t stop there. It is important that we encourage these serious-minded folks to share their success with other serious minded folks. We no longer live in a world where we can thrive alone. China, India and others are embracing the middleclass entrepreneurial spirit and are chipping away at the “American Dream”. We have to help other Americans become successful before we wake in a country where our primary language is not English. Even if the Chinese don’t plan to take over the world, if they send our economy spiraling into a permanent downward cycle they have essentially done the same thing.
